Look we all want a robo dog but if you kill someone with a sledgehammer to steal theirs, they are going to find you. There's no way a 75k$ dog doesn't have gps

wotsukai-leftlmao

we are killing the dog

purplealchemist

NO.

ALL DOGS ARE PRECIOUS.

Even robot ones.

catgirlmp3

its not a dog, its a machine used and designed for police surveillance and the entire reason they made it dog shaped is so idiots like you would go "awwww robot dog how precious" instead of seeing them as the oppressive tools they are.

we're killing the fucking dog

tangent101

That's not a robot dog.

It's a four-legged robot spider.

riotouseaterofflesh

It is not a dog, a spider, a chicken, a horse, a fish, a tick, a mosquito, a tapeworm or a baby

It is a weapon

There is nothing morally wrong about breaking weapons that are hurting people for any reason other than to prevent those people from hurting others worse

roach-works

the dog robots are fully capable of hurting people, and badly. failsafes that would prevent that have not been installed. the police are deploying a thing out in public that can maim anyone who touches it wrong.

image

look, when i was a kid i was passionately in love with the idea of robots--that humans would one day create another sort of intelligence to share our world with-- and believed very firmly that we should respect and protect all our robot friends from the start, so there would be no violent humans-against-robots revolution or anything.

anyway it turns out that the people trying to keep end-stage capitalism running are really banking on us feeling more love for the robots than for the kind of people they're going to be using the robots to oppress.

so like. maybe lets all agree right now that if a robot is being used to hurt a person, you need to smash the fucking robot. they're going to make the robots really cute. they're going to show us so many movies about how much robots need to be loved. and then they are going to use robots to hurt people.

let's try not to fall for it, okay?

booskerdu

And don't forget that scary af episode of Black Mirror, Metalhead. Robot dogs can fuck right off.

skyline-sunset-in-my-veins

They created a weapon, told you to call it a friend and watched as your empathy became their trap and tool.

jcrewguy

They're using the fucking robot dog in a pistachio commercial so you think it's just a friendly precious animal.

fuck robotsI used to love them but now they're just awful

I love desire paths. There's something so wonderous about seeing an echo of humanity. Depending on it's location, a desire path can mean so many different things.

In a city, like the pic above, they represent rebellion, and efficiency. The messiness of humanity. We like to imagine we're oh so logical and neat so we design our cities to be logical and neat an then real humans literally trample on that idea. The ego required to think you can design something perfect that checks every box. Life is all about compromise and patching stuff when some new problem arises. Though people have certainly tried! Ohio state univeristy let students carve their desire paths, and then paved them over. It looks pretty artsy.

image

Some people will try to discourage desire paths, but this is almost always going to fail.

image

Eventually, people just have to accept them. Humans are too dang stubborn.

image

Certain desire paths are just adorable. A 0.5 second time saver. You just can't design for maximum efficiency, humans will always find shortcuts!

image

Though on occasion a desire path can actually be the least efficient way...especially if you're superstitious.

image

In a wilder area, such as below, they show us the curiosity of humans. A desire path somewhere natural often tells you there's something interesting just ahead. (Though remember some ecosystems are fragile and will suffer if trampled! Stick to paths in these sorts of areas)

image

And how about desire stairs? I always think these look so cool. We get see humans determination to climb, to traverse every kind of terrain.

image

And for something really crazy...a desire path used for centuries will create a 'holloway'

image

All of these pics are off the Desirepath subreddit, check them out for more examples! And many thanks to the users who submitted these photos.

Absolutely vital information to have if you live where the waters freeze over.

I especially appreciate this guy's commitment to actually showing the steps himself. That cold-shock response is a bitch and willingly subjecting himself to it couldn't have been fun.

I don’t live anywhere near water like this, but I am still memorizing this knowledge because:

* I might use it in a story someday.

* Any knowledge that staves off the dying is good knowledge.

Some kids passed away today in my region from falling in icy water, so thought it was important to boost.

since we are talking about people who deserve a higher salary i think teachers should be making six figures a year btw. if state superintendents who have never set foot in a classroom can make that much so should the teachers. teachers are quite literally the backbone of our society and if teachers were actually properly compensated we wouldn’t have a shortage or bad teachers who are continually burnout because of a lack of proper compensation.

Men's issues are often understood to be environmental: their mental issues and predatory or destructive behaviours stem from loneliness, poverty, not getting sex, being divorced, feeling humiliated, being abused as a kid, discrimination, owing money, playing video games, addiction, a nagging wife, ptsd from war, feeling emasculated, indoctrination, an overbearing mother, an absent father, whatever it is it's motivated by external factors.

But women are told that they are the problem, their personality is disordered, it's all in their heads, they need to change, to fit the mold, often times that mold is simply femininity and numbness.

There is a general impression, in the medical field, that women and girls can't be trusted to know what they think or how they feel. They are exaggerating, lying, manipulating, attention seeking, irrational, snakes who deserve to be punished for annoying the staff with their fake problems.

People have a low tolerance for women expressing emotions, especially anger, irritability, stubbornness, dissatisfaction or simply being loud, as well as a lack of interest in attracting men.

To keep women under control they pathologise everything we do therefore justifying unnecessary drug use, mostly sedatives. And of course, when women and girls aren't considered people, as is often the case in patriarchal institutions, then they aren't considered as deserving of agency or dignity.

But men and boys are people, they can express their emotions; aggressivity, anger, yelling, irritability, violence are considered normal male traits, so they are tolerated, justified and even expected. Men's problems are real, they are not attention seeking bitches, and they are human beings deserving of respect.

This is all despite the fact that most of the patients who attack medical staff are men.

femsolid

There is a societal need to silence the women and girls who disclose trauma, abuse and even crimes and therefore expose the fact that there is a sex war going on. Men are attacking women. Calling women and girls mentally unstable, insane, unreliable prevents them from being heard and from seeking revenge or change from the environment instead of themselves. A mental diagnosis can ensure they are never allowed to be independent and are kept under watch. A woman's inability or unwillingness to move past what was done to her threatens the illusion of peace, fairness and equity that neo liberalism teaches us we live in. Imagine if all the women who have experienced child sexual abuse, domestic violence, rape or attempted rape, misogynistic harassment and threats had a "mental breakdown" right this moment. What would our society look like? What if women screamed instead of being anaesthetised? What if women fought instead of doing yoga to calm down?

thinking about the time a prof told us that in real research mathematics it's fine to be slow, speed itself is not essential, as long as you can find it within yourself to make consistent unyielding inexorable forward progress, like the time some guy stole an M60A3 tank and terrorized a suburban neighborhood with it, said guy wasn't going that fast but plowed through cars and telephone poles and shit no problem. i'm not kidding that's what he said, that's the metaphor he used, he told us that the act of mathematics is like the 1995 san diego tank rampage

bortchilladelphia

Yeah that’s math baby

celebs will really say with no irony "pregnancy terrifies me and I didn't want it to change my body, so we hired this lady to get pregnant for us" like omfg

bliss-bliss-bliss-bliss

O...k? Good for them? You're... aware that that's a thing non-celebrity people do too, right? A thing people have always done, consensually, since like the invention of civilization, right?

oh wow misogyny has always existed? very shocked hair turned white

deepgreenrad

Are these people aware that commercial surrogacy is illegal in most states? And in the E.U.? And maybe there’s a reason for that?

radhony

Where I'm from it's absolutely illegal. Surrogacy is only ever done between people you know in real life, like family and friends. You can reimburse the mother, but commercial surrogacy is not allowed. And that is because the parentage law is based on the principle that the birth mother is always the legal mother of the child. As it should be.

menalez

can we go back to the claim that apparently someone else’s embryo was put into an unrelated woman’s body via IVF in the bronze age? 💀 pretty sure that’s not what was happening considering science wasn’t that advanced back then

strozzaprete

oh the mongolian empire? the one founded by a man who raped so many women he is said to have had 500 children?
